Automatic welding - Seam tracking

Automating welding processes very often require that tolerances of the workpiece positioning and approaching are taken into account.
Today SAF-FRO seam tracking devices meet these requirements.

While increasing productivity they improve the weld quality and reduce touch-up and finishing operations.

SAF-FRO proposes 2 seam tracking devices :

Proportional seam tracking SENSORTRACK

It is particularly designed for MIG/MAG or Submerged Arc processes. Its modularity allows single or two-directional sensing without any travel limitation.
Functioning : The correction speed is proportional to the deformation of the sensing probe.

Processes : MIG/MAG, Submerged Arc
Motorised axes : 1 or 2 (unlimited travel)
Maximum travel speed in sensing mode :
80 cm/mn
Sensing precision : + or - 0.2 mm
Ignoring of tacking : option
Minimum plate thickness : 5 mm

Optical seam tracking LASERTRACK

It can solve numerous application cases using submerged arc, MIG/MAG, TIG or Plasma. The laser head is not in contact with the workpiece and allows to meet numerous requirements which cannot be met with a traditional seam tracking device.

  • Workpieces with joint without sufficient mechanical reference (butt or fillet weld of small thicknesses)
  • Seam tracking precision thanks to the correction of the torch impact point
  • Efficient treatment of tacks
  • Adaptability and fast operation without decalibration on odd shaped joints.
  • No mechanical wear or accidental deterioration, the system functioning without any contact with the workpiece.

Processes: MIG/MAG, Submerged Arc, TIG, Plasma
Motorised axes : 1 or 2 (travel 200 mm)
Maximum travel speed in sensing mode :
200 cm/mn
Sensing precision : 0.1 mm
Ignoring of tacking : yes
Minimum plate thickness : 0.1 mm
