Automatic welding -
Submerged Arc process
A submerged arc welding installation comprises one or
several power sources and one submerged arc welding head with is control
box. The latter is fitted onto a column and boom, a beam or a carriage
according to the type of work to be carried out.
Advantages of the
process
This process combines productivity, quality and
operator with :
- excellent weld compactness,
- good mechanical characteristics,
- high penetration,
- fast execution spped,
- good weld appearance,
- absence of spatter and smoke,
- high duty cycle.
Power
sources
Rugged and reliable, fan cooled, protected against agressive
industrial surroundings.

Four power sources available for two
distinct functioning modes :
- Direct current with
thyristor technology, 3 power sources available :
STARMATIC 650 DC (650 A duty cycle at 100%)
STARMATIC 1003 DC (1000 A duty cycle at 100%)
STARMATIC 1303 DC (1300 A duty cycle at 100%)
- Alternating current with
thyristor technology :
STARMATIC 1003 AC/DC (1000 A duty cycle at
100%)
Welding heads and control box
SAF proposes a complete range of high performance equipment using
microprocessor technology to combine performance, flexibility of use and
guaranteed high reliability in welding cycle management.
