A complete manufacturing shop at TPI

TPI*, a prefabricator of automatic sprinkler systems for fire protection, is looking for ways to improve its productivity. SAF has met its need by designing and producing a complete manufacturing line.

The new workshop, divided into two zones using the same manufacturing process, implements the following sequences: butt-jointing and cutting pipe lengths, drilling of outlet holes and welding of pipe couplings.

The wide range of lengths produced, pipe diameters used and number of couplings to be welded led to the choice of numeric control installations. MIG welding with OPTIPULS 380 i, pipe cutting using a NERTAJET HP 120 plasma installation, welding by rotating electrode machines…the cycles are managed automatically once the operator has entered the programming data (diameter, length, quantity, etc.) on the dialogue terminal. Total satisfaction!

The new line met all the expectations. It allowed production to be doubled with improved quality. Finally, by reducing handling and implementing fume extraction systems, it contributes to improving operators' working conditions.
