Drum changes reduced by a third

Longer reserve time, easier set-up, low-cost recycling of materials.

The environmentally-friendly 450 kg ENDURO strapped drum lives up to the expectations of SMB (General Trailor Group). This axle manufacturer is equipped with robotic welding installations.

Accustomed to using 300 kg drums, it accepted SAF's proposal for installing new NERTALIC 70 A solid wire packaging.

Laurent Pomié, head of consumable products at SAF comments: "There are two new features here. Firstly, capacity is increased by 50%, resulting in a longer reserve time. Secondly, the drum is environmentally-friendly, as its components can be easily and cheaply separated. And there's another advantage: it requires no adapting equipment and is therefore easy to install."

Early in the year, SMB incorporated the drum into its manufacturing process as part of a product improvement initiative.

"Very aware of the gains in reserve time, points out Philippe Carol, RNST* SAF, the company took all the necessary steps for developing this new packaging. This required modifications such as installing plastic flaps to prevent unintentional wire feed. Drum changes reduced by a third! Less handling, increased productivity. The advantages for SMB are certain."
